XM607 Buttstock
Changes

  1. The Buffer Tube was changed to a one piece tube instead of a welded two piece to increase strength and reduce labor.
  2. The Receiver End Plate was changed to steel that is1/8" thick like M16 carbines.
  3. The Outer Locking Tube lip diameter was reduced so the Tube isn't visible from the outside.
  4. The most important change was to the End Cap and Operating Lever. Both of these parts are now cast versus the original CNC machined parts. The Initial cost is high, but hopefully this change will make the stock closer to the original.

An Accurate Reproduction of the Original Colt 607 Buttstock

XM607 Buttstock Project Update

As you may or may not know, the XM607 buttstock by WA-Tom of Total Silence Inc has been off the market for over two years. Since then a joint venture was formed to redevelop the XM607 buttstock and put it back on the market.

This project is complete. The previously developed stock was updated to improve on the already great "bolt on version" of the 1960s Colt First Generation two position buttstock. Minor improvements were made to the existing designs to aid in production and esthetics, see side bar.

Bolt On Version and Pinned Version

I am in hopes that both the Bolt On Version and a Pinned Version of the XM607 Buttstock will be available. Just like the original XM607 Buttstock, the pinned version will require modification to your lower to properly work. I will not be providing this service as I am not a FFL manufacturer. The Bolt On Version is in production now and is available for shipment.

3/16/11 Update: We are now taking orders again, please refer to the left NAV bar for current Price/Order forms.

We are in our new building and all of our equipment is up and running. We can accept orders as we did in the past. Here is my general rule for 607 buttstocks. I build them twelve at a time, and I start a run of twelve after I recieve my first order therefore you could have delivery of one week to four weeks on a stock. When you send in an order with your payment, I will not cash the check, money order etc. until I ship your stock. These stocks are all hand build and take a tremendous amount of time to produce. We do not offer any discounts off the pricing due to the nature of these items. It is a labor of love...well not so much anymore. It is the loss of all my free time, as I do work a (more than) full time job.

Please note shipping costs have gone up a few dollars, paypal fee has increased to 5%, and 607 Handguards went up $10 higher. It is getting increasingly more difficult to find nice condition A1 handguards to cut down, so I don't know how long I can continue to offer these. They are available now though.

11/1/10 Update: Order are not being taken at this time.

We are currently behind on shipping our current orders, due to all the preparations for our move. We are moving our office and shop on 11-22 through 11-29, and I don't anticipate having our machine shop up and running for a few more months. Therefore we are closing down the orders for a few months to get this move completed. I will make an announcement as soon as we are ready to take new order. Sorry for the inconvenience.

11/1/10 Update: XM607 Handguards

I am all out of "A" Grade Handguards, therefore future sales will come from the "B" Grade and then "C" Grade. We used the best that we could find to make up the "A" grade. The "B" and "C" Grades are a little more dinged and show more use. They were all from used surplus even the "A" grade. It is getting increasingly difficult to find good economical A1 handguards to cut down, and the prices of these keep going up, therefore my price will remain the same for these "B" and "C" Grade handguards.

2/10/10 Update: Word and PDF Order Forms on Left NavBar

Please note all of the items that are currently available from Total Silence Inc. are listed on the two order forms linked in the left NavBar. We currently do not have any other products except what is listed. All of these products are avialable and will be available for the foreseeible future. The XM607 buttstocks are produced in batches of 12, therefore they sometimes ship from stock but can take up to four weeks to ship.

12/22/08 Update: Taking Orders.

We are now accepting orders for Stocks, Handguards and A1 Pistol Grips. We are waiting on our Anodized parts to arrive before I can start shipping. I expect to ship the current orders by the first of the new year, and any new orders shortly thereafter. Click on these links for TSI order form and Details: Word Format PDF Format. At this time we will not be able to offer any stocks in Type III Black Anodizing. We are only offering our stocks in Type III XM Gray Anodizing by US Anodizing.

10/22/08 Update - Price...$395.00 for Bolt On 607 Stock.

Tom had it right a few years ago...that the cost to manufacture these stocks are high. With my initial run of 100 machined parts and 250 cast parts, I thought I would be able to lower the price of the stocks from Tom's last price, but that isn't possible. I am listing these 100 stocks at $395.00 just to get through this first run of 100 stocks. At that point I will have a better idea of how much money I made or lost. After the outside machining is completed, one part needs to be welded, all parts need to be parkerized or anodized, the stocks them self require one to two hour of work to complete. Where I am hoping to do better is in the labor to complete the stock (welding, blasting, machining, fitting, potting, etc.). If I can reduce the labor, then I can assure myself I can make a profit. It would be nice if I could just make these for the good of the Retro Community, but everyone needs to make a living or it is pointless.

10/22/08 Update - 607 Handguards will be available in limited supply.

Tom has manufactured 607 Shortly Triangle Handguards from his remaining stock, and front and rear caps are either in or on the way in. So I am happy to announce that we will have 607 Handguards available and I am pretty sure they will remain at TSI previous price of $75.00
